Here's a great recipe for smoothies:

Fruit juice

A handful of three or four different fruits

Blend until as smooth as you like 'em.

I usually start with orange juice and a banana, then add whatever fruit I have on hand. A peach and a mango; a papaya and strawberries; apricots and berries; apples and pears. It's a mix and match thing, really. What fruit floats your boat? Add it to your drink. Add more liquid or more fruit to taste. Start with apple juice or grape juice instead of orange juice. There are no wrong choices, though some are much better than others.

I don't recommend pineapple, though, as it tends to take over the flavor of a smoothie. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I have found that more than three or four different fruits leads to a smoothie with no character and the flavors all get muddied together.

The bounty of available fruit is certainly a gift to our taste buds, and our health.
there is a website called www.hungrygirl.com, where you can find lots of healthy substitute recipes for foods. You can even sign on for an email update with new recipes.

I'm pretty sure she will have some healthy options for smoothies.
MY FAVORITE SMOOTHIE EVER!!!

1/2 cup vanilla soymilk

1/2 cup ice

1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie filling)

1 Tbsp. liquid sweetener (honey, maple syrup, agave syrup, etc)

1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice (a little cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice if you don't have the premixed spice)

Blend until smooth and creamy. Makes 8 oz. And gives you all your RDA of vitamin a!
